Question by Nya: How to become an actress without doing plays or musicals?
So, I’m 17, and I’ve learned i either want to be an actress or an author after I graduate/ Go to college. I’ve always wanted to be an actress, even as a kid, with nothing better to do except look in the mirror and play around. As a 12 year old I wanted my parents to put me in acting classes and maybe audition for Disney Channel, but they discouraged the idea, or just didn’t listen. After that, i put my ambitions aside, and to this day i still play around at the mirror, reciting random lines that pop into my head.
Now I attend a high school that offers acting classes, and our school has the best plays in the district (probably due to our she-devil of a director- once you audition, your soul is hers until the curtain is drawn the last time). I now have the opportunity to sign myself up for classes.
I’m old enough to know that I will not make it into stardom- much less any form of acting, and i know how little aspiring actors can make. I want to become an actor souly for the fun and excitement and seeing the finished product, money really is the last thing i think about. Yes, i know acting isn’t all fun and games, its very hard work.
The thing is-although i love watching plays and musicals, I really wouldn’t want to be in one. Well, that might be different if i did’t have to juggle a job, school work, and a social life. There is also something else i dont like about them, but cant put my finger on. But film? Even if im only an extra all my life, i’d be so happy!
What I want to know is…. Is there any other way to get experience for a resume besides plays and musicals? I don’t think so, but I thought the internet could help me out! Thanks!
