each region has its own specialties. Italians eat 1st course, 2nd course, then fruit and dessert. 1st course is pasta. 2nd is meat. Italy is famous for the pasta and the way it is prepared-there is a huge number of different recipes, different kinds of pasta (lasagne, tortellini, spaghetti, farfalle, gnocchi, ravioli, cannelloni etc etc) and different kinds of sauces (ragu’, puttanesca, carbonara etc). Pizza has its origins in Italy as well, and there are all sorts of pizza (pizzaiolo, margherita, quattro formaggi, frutti di mare etc). do a general internet search, you will find all sorts of info on this.
