for 101 in 1001 {II}: 027 invent a bitchin’ cupcake recipe. i adapted recipes for ginger and rum cakes, baked them together, made cream cheese frosting with dark rum, and sprinkled crystallized ginger over the top. {recipe here}

Une Folle Envie

An original creation for the movie premiere: Une Folle Envie, with Clovis Cornillac and Olivia Bonamy, directed by Bernard Jeanjean. In English, Une Folle Envie translates to A burning desire or an Insatiable Urge, and the movie follows a young couple who will stop at nothing to have a baby.

My husband and I attended a private screening of the film with cast and crew and it was from that that I took much of my inspiration. This is a triple ginger cupcake with a passion fruit curd center and a rose cream cheese frosting. I think the first two ingredients are pretty self-explanatory (ginger for its aphrodasiac qualities and passion fruit, well for passion!). I opted for the rose frosting because I thought it would add a nice light twist and the main character in the film is named Rose. The golden horseshoe is a talisman for good luck — in the film, the couple carry various "porte bonheur."
