Question by Adam: Online Cookbook Sales 2008?
I’m looking to know how large the online cookbook market was in 2008 (total sales). Also, any information for projected size in 2009?

Links to articles, research, etc is what I’m looking for. And “online cookbook market” refers to sales of hardcopy books online (i.e. thru Amazon) NOT ebooks. 10 points for best answer.

I can’t remember the source for this, but I remember reading an article this year saying that the popularity of recipe web sites had reduced cookbook sales to almost nothing. It was examining the shift from the market being dominated by practical recipes to a domination by books designed for voyeuristic reading instead.

That is that people who actually need the recipe have switched to just googling it up, often getting a once copyrighted recipe, rather than buying books. While the source has disappeared into a vague past, the reasoning struck me as I had just done much of what was described this last Christmas, when I needed a number of recipes for the holiday meal..
