ok. I am a high school culinary student. my school sends me to a culinary program at a vocational school and I receive credits the for home school. in my class my teacher has assigned a project. we each picked a country out of a hat and I had gotten hungary. we have to create a meal plan for breakfast lunch and dinner. this includes a beverage. I have a type of coffee for breakfast, a palinka cocktail for dinner, but I cant find ANY beverage for lunch that doesn’t have some sort of alcohol in it. I don’t know what to do because I want something more than put this in a glass and shake it you know?! don’t they have simple juice recipes in hungary? they’ve got to. help me!!!!
i am doing portabella paprikash with muhammara on the side. any suggestions? your answer is very helpful already. thank you.

Hungarians in general don’t drink too much cocktails or mixed drinks. The drink pairing would depend on what food you selected for lunch. If you want something non-alcoholic then you can go with fruit juice, such as sour cherry juice or pear juice. These are somewhat unique as they can only be found in specialty markets in the US, but these are not Hungary specific. Most Central and Eastern Europeans drink these juices as well. You could also use elderberry drink, which is made with elderberry concentrate (syrup) and water (sparkling or still).
