Help with Human Anatomy hw?

Question by twinkerbell2: Help with Human Anatomy hw?
My teacher told us to do this: Select a food or beverage of your choice. Provide the ingredients label (or a copy of the label). Categorize ALL of the ingredients as to inorganic or organic. For the organic compounds determine which category the ingredient would best belong (lipids, proteins, carbohydrates etc.)

I used coca-cola
what i have right now is:
carbonated water is inorganic
high fructose corn syrup:organic and carbohydrate
caramel color: organic and carbohydrate
phosphoric acid: inorganic
natural flavors: organic and carbohydrates
caffeine: organic and carbohydrate

Could one of you help me and check if t these are right especially the last two which I was a little bit confused with?
Thanks in advance :)

“Natural flavors” and “caffeine” are both organic (a definite yes on the caffeine), but something can be “natural” and inorganic, such as salt. Without specifying what the “natural ingredients” are, you have no way of knowing how they should be classified. The same for categorizing them as being a lipid, protein, or carbohydrate. I would also make this comment for “caramel color”.

Caffeine is actually an alkaloid, which isn’t one of your choices.

Somehow, I think your teacher was thinking that you would choose something that didn’t have so many additives. You should at least have been given the option of “unknown”.

What do you think? Answer below!
