Nothing like my dad’s recipe at all, but it was still good. We made it with ground turkey and a half box too much of elbow macaroni.

Turkey Chili
(with some thanks to Food Network)

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 medium onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 pound ground turkey
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, with their juice
1 can of chili tomato sauce
grated cheddar cheese

I kind of followed the directions, but I didn’t have all the ingredients so I just used and substituted the ones provided above. I cooked the onions and garlic with chili powder and oregano in the oil. Then added the pound o’ ground turkey with the tomato paste. Then I switched it all to a sauce pan, because our skillet is too wee, adding the other cans of tomato-y products. We survived, so you should too.
