Does anyone have any inexpensive low-sodium diabetic dinner recipes?

Question by leisa_k: Does anyone have any inexpensive low-sodium diabetic dinner recipes?
Trying to have my family eat healthier but am having trouble finding recipes that don’t include me going to specialty stores to buy strange ingredients I’ve never heard of. Thanks much!!

Have you read the South Beach Living diet books? They have some great menus and recipes in them for every day foods that are low carb and you can leave off all the salt you wish.

I have been basing my menus on the SBL phase 2 food plan for the past 15+ years. But!!!!

The person with diabetes needs to check the foods listed and see which ones raise their glucose too much. Test glucose, eat a prepared food for snack time, and test again 90 minutes after the first test. If glucose spikes more than 50 points, decide if that food is worth keeping in food plan or needs to have smaller servings much less often.

Mostly I eat Chef Salads for lunch and dinner and bacon and eggs with half slice toast for breakfast. The meats in chef salads doesn’t have to be fancy. it can be browned burger or diced chicken left over from another meal. It can also be canned salmon or tuna which the “experts” tell us are full of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that we need.
